Sara Schramm

Personal Injury Attorney Sara Schramm

Sara Schramm’s broad range of personal and professional experiences have prepared her well for her role as an attorney with the law firm of Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C., where she focuses her practice in the areas of products liability and mass tort litigation.

“I apply these experiences in a thoughtful way to my life as a lawyer and a counselor, whether I am in practice reviewing documents or providing career advice and resume review to law students,” says Sara, who joined the firm after serving for three years as the assistant director of legal career services at the University of Georgia School of Law.

“In my mind, the documents and details always equate to real people and real problems,” she says.

Sara hails from Iowa, but she considers Athens her adult home. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1992 with double majors in history and Spanish literature. While in school, she competed with the UGA equestrian team.

Sara served as a products liability and toxic tort litigation paralegal at Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C., and at the New York City firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where she supervised a team of legal assistants at the start of the Fen-Phen diet drug litigation in 1997.

She continued to work at Simpson full-time while attending Brooklyn Law School’s evening program. Sara earned her law degree in 2003 and joined the firm as a staff attorney.

In 2004, Sara returned to Athens to practice as a litigation associate with the firm of Evert Weathersby Houff. She conducted plaintiff and expert witness depositions, drafted pre-trial motions and assisted with all phases of case development and trial preparation as a member of the firm’s national mass tort litigation team.

After taking a year of sabbatical to live in Berlin with her family, Sara returned to Athens and accepted a position at Georgia Law in 2009, leveraging her experience in the legal field to provide law students and alumni with career advice.

She reunited with Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C., in 2012.

“Our firm is unique,” Sara says. “Our attorneys are very experienced and ethical.  There is a personal touch with every case.  The firm has always had the ability to have an impact on the direction of mass tort litigation as well as the ability to change with the times to tackle new legal problems.

“Legal problems can be very complex. Just as one seeks the best doctors during a personal health crisis, one should also seek attorneys with a high level of experience and training in order to ensure the best legal outcome.”

When she isn’t practicing law, Sara enjoys gardening with her family and running. She has run seven half-marathons and one full marathon, the New York City Marathon in 2004. Recently, she returned to the equestrian world, riding hunt seat over fences.

“I’m proud to say that I can still do, on some level, the sports I loved as a young person,” she says.
